Simple Care, Long Life
Laminate flooring is designed to resist scratches, stains, and daily wear. Its photographic layer gives you the look of real hardwood, while the melamine wear layer handles the abuse.
The key to long-lasting laminate? Keep it dry and keep it clean. Unlike vinyl, laminate is not waterproof — water that seeps into the seams can cause swelling and irreversible damage.
Quick Care Tips
Sweep or Dust Daily
Use a microfiber dust mop or soft broom to remove dirt and grit. Sand and small debris act like sandpaper on laminate's wear layer.
Wipe Spills Immediately
Laminate is not waterproof. Wipe up spills right away with a dry cloth to prevent water from seeping into the seams and causing swelling.
Use Felt Pads
Place felt pads under all furniture legs. Although laminate is scratch-resistant, heavy or sharp furniture can still leave marks over time.
Use Doormats
Catch dirt and moisture at the door. Non-rubber-backed mats at every entrance are your first line of defense against wear and scratching.
Detailed Care Guide
Daily Sweeping
Sweep or dust mop every day in high-traffic areas. Use a vacuum on the hard floor setting (no beater bar) to avoid scratching the surface.
Damp Mop Only
When you mop, wring the mop until it's barely damp. Use a laminate-specific cleaner or just water with a drop of dish soap. Never soak the floor.
Spot Treat Stains
For scuffs, use a pencil eraser or tennis ball. For sticky residue, apply a small amount of acetone on a cloth and wipe gently — don't pour it on the floor.
Protect From Sun
Direct sunlight can fade laminate over time. Use curtains or UV window film in sun-heavy rooms. Rotate rugs to prevent uneven color changes.
Maintain Humidity
Keep indoor humidity between 35–65%. The fiberboard core in laminate can expand or contract with extreme humidity changes, causing gaps or buckling.
Things to Avoid
- Steam mops and excess water — steam forces moisture into seams, causing the fiberboard core to swell and warp. Always use a barely-damp mop.
- Wax, polish, and oil-based cleaners — these leave a buildup that dulls the finish and attracts dirt. Laminate's surface doesn't need waxing or polishing.
- Letting spills sit — even small puddles can seep into seams within minutes. Wipe up any liquid immediately with a dry cloth.
